Step-by-Step Instructions for the Overalls Bracelet

This baby bracelet is one of my favorite designs - its simple, its elegant, it sparkles, and it goes with any denim outfit. Pair it with blue denim overalls and a white t-shirt and its a winning combination!

      Parts needed:

      • 12 Swarovski 5810 6mm Crystal Pearls - Creme Rose
      • 5 Swarovski 5301 6mm Bicones - Light Sapphire
      • 10 (or 12) 4mm Sterling Bali Spacers
      • 2 3mm Sterling Seamless Rounds
      • 2 5mm Sterling Seamless Rounds (optional for making a slightly longer bracelet)
      • 1 Lobster Clasp
      • 1 Closed Ring
      • 2 Crimp Beads
      • Jewelry Wire
      • Flush Cutters
      • Crimping pliers (preferred) or Needle Nose Pliers

      1. Start by unrolling a foot of wire from your Beadalon spool.
      2. String 1 3mm sterling round
      3. String 1 4mm bali spacer
      4. String 1 6mm light sapphire 5301 bicone
      5. String 1 4mm bali spacer
      6. String 3 6mm creme rose 5810 pearls
      7. String 1 4mm bali spacer
      8. String 1 6mm light sapphire 5301 bicone
      9. String 1 4mm bali spacer
      10. Keep going with this pattern - 3 pearls, spacer, bicone, spacer, 3 pearls, etc, until you have strung 5 bicones, and 4 segments of pearls. Add the last 3mm sterling round, and your bracelet should look like this:

This bracelet, when finished with the clasp, will measure about 5 1/4". If this isn't the right length, then you can adjust the length by adding or subtracting sterling spacers at either end. The first picture below shows a much shorter bracelet (made by taking off the light sapphire bicones at either end, and adding a 3mm round. The 2nd picture shows the basic bracelet made longer by putting a 5mm round at either end BEFORE the 3mm round. Finally, the last picture shows a little bit longer combination made by slipping in a bali spacer between the 5mm and 3mm rounds. There are many attractive, symetical adjustments you can make by using different sized rounds and balis.

Finishing the bracelet - you'll need your lobster clasp (remove the open jump ring that comes with it), 2 crimp beads, and a closed jump ring. (shown below)

Next - run your wire through the crimp, then through the end of the lobster clasp, and then back through the crimp again, leaving a short tail hanging out, as shown below.

Follow the instructions on the crimp-pliers packaging to close the crimp. Its WISE to practice this a few times with some wire scraps and extra crimps. VERY VERY WISE!!! Then trim off the tail right next to the crimp.

Snip the wire at the other end of the bracelet off the spool, leaving about 3 inches to work with. Attach the closed ring to the lobster, and then run the end of the wire through a crimp, then the closed ring, and then back through the crimp. Gently tighten up the wire until your beads all sit nicely together, and you're happy with the appearance of the bracelet. (Shown below)

Crimp the 2nd crimp bead, and then trim the tail.

It is very important to make sure that the closed ring is already attached to the lobster clasp before you tighten up the crimp bead and the wire. If you have the bracelet straight, and you tighten up the wire, when you try to bend it, it may feel to tight and stiff. If you have the wire in the circular shape already, then your tension will be correct when you close the crimp, and your bracelet will feel nice and flexible.

      Congratulations! You did it!
