Pair - a - Keets!

We have two budgies in our flock - the friendly and spunky blue Penny Parakeet (a girl) and the timid yellow parakeet Pookie (a male.) They bubble and chirp all day long, and as their cage is located in the main office at Lytha Studios, callers frequently comment on the "budgie babble" in the background. These are two special little critters, both rescue birds, and they brighten up our lives.

Penny and Pookie have their own private bathtub - a small casarole dish that they love to jump into and splash around in. Pookie usually has to wait until Penny is finished - she is stingy about sharing her bath-space!

Here the two keets sit on top of their play gym together, with a house-finch named Amy (one of our long-term rescues) for company. This house finch was orphaned as a baby and raised in our household, and was very good friends with the keets while she was here. Amy was released with five other finches in the summer of 1998.

Two normal parakeets and one long-billed keet. Actually - that big black bird is our pet starling, but he loves to hang out with the keets!

These birds love to swing, and even though they have two swings on their gym, they still fight each other to sit on the "front" swing.
