Trevan = the big green Jardine's

Trevan is our biggest parrot - about 8 or 9 inches long. He is a Jardine's parrot, closely related to the more common Senegal parrot. We don't know if Trevan is a he or a she, but we always refer to him as a male. Trevan laughs and whistles and clucks and makes a variety of weird sounds. He occasionally even says "hello" and "T-Bird". Trevan was born on March 1st, 1996.

Trevan has a big beak and he likes to exercise it daily by shredding and chewing wood, paper, and other beak sized things. Here he is in his very own toy box!

Bird in a Box

We've recently started wondering if Trevan is a female because of all the time he's been spending in boxes (nesting sites????). At any rate - here is Trevan in one of his favorite new pass-times - shredding priority mail boxes.

UPDATE - One day, from inside a shredded Priority Mail Box, Trevan started groaning - a terrible sound! We called the vet, got ready to take him in, but before we could get out coats on.... "He" laid an egg!
